ACC 16 results: Wasweiler, Butcher, Gulfin all crowned champions!

On Saturday night, Aggressive Combat Championships invaded Queens Theater at Flushing Meadow Park for their sixteenth installment. Seven bouts took place inside the ACC cage, overseen by the USMTA, a New York State approved third-party sanctioning body.

The main event was a featherweight title headliner by EGA fighter, Christian Wasweiler and Noah Donowa of Kai Next Level MMA.

In the main event, Wasweiler and Donowa wasted zero time to start exchange leg kicks. Wasweiler changed levels and scored a text book takedown on Donowa. While in top position, the EGA fighter began locking in a guillotine choke. Donowa started a scramble to avoid the grip of Wasweiler. Wasweiler showed great poise as he held onto, adjusted and secured the choke in the midst of rolling around. Donowa was left no other option, but to tap to the submission.

Wasweiler won the 145-pound ACC main event at 0:56 of round one. The victory earned Wasweiler the ACC featherweight crown.

The co-main event ended up being a lopsided bout between Russell Pititto of East West MMA and Brian Boarsma of EGA. Throughout the first two rounds, Pititto defended Boarsma’s takedown attempts with a strong sprawl and control from the front headlock position. The two welterweights fought in a novice rules bout, meaning one of the fighters had less than two fights in their amateur career.

Pititto controlled the entire second and third rounds. In round three, after a quick takedown, Pititto delivered a pounding to the body of Boarsma. Novice rules doesn’t allow head shots while an opponent is grounded. The complete domination by Pititto was shown on the judges’ score cards. Pititto defeated Boarsma 30-25, 30-26, 30-27.
