Cro Cop Back in MMA Action Against Olympic Judo Gold Medalist Ishii

Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic’s name still holds a draw and interest to MMA promoters, especially in Japan.

The 39-year old former Pride, K1, and UFC fighter will compete against Olympic gold medalist Satoshi Ishii.

Cro Cop (28-11-2, 1 NC) last fought in November 2013, losing to Alexey Oleinik via submission.

Ishii (12-2-1) has had a successful transition from Judo-to-mixed martial arts. The 27 year old is riding an eight-fight winning streak with wins over notable opponents (Tim Sylvia, Pedro Rizzo, Kerry Schall, Jeff Monson, and Kazuyuki Fujita).

Cro Cop versus Ishii will take place on August 28 in Inoki Genome Federation (IGF) in Tokyo, Japan.

  1. Ishii has a great track record (olympic judo gold medalist) and many wins over notable guys…those notable guys however are past their prime riding off into the senset. Hopefully Ishii gets a crack in the UFC as a heavy or lhw.
