Frankie Saenz makes debut at UFC Fight Night 47

AUGUST 16, 2014 – Frankie Saenz, a newcomer to the UFC industry, will make his first appearance in the octagon when he faces off to Nolan Ticman tonight in the UFC Fight Night 47 preliminary card starting at 8 p.m. ET at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine.

Saenz, weighing in at 135 pounds with a height of 5’6”, begins his UFC career with a record in MMA of 8-2-0. The last four of his five fights since May 2012 have been wins, and each win progressively gets better for him, but worse for his opponent. For instance, September 15, 2012, Saenz went head to head with Jade Porter, which was a win for Saenz by decision.

May 25, 2013, Saenz and Marvin Garcia faced off and Garcia faced a loss when Frankie submitted his opponent with a rear-naked choke. Almost one year later from his win by decision against Porter, he wins against Tyler Bialecki in the same fashion as Garcia, with a rear-naked choke submission. Saenz’s last fight was against Marvin Blumer in February of 2014. The fight was ended by a technical knock-out (TKO).

Success cannot be achieved without hard work, and Saenz proves his focus is on training to better his skills in the octagon. According to the official UFC website, Frankie’s training schedule includes “two to three sessions a day, including grappling, stand-up at night and sparring two days a week in the afternoon.” He also mentions training on his strength and conditioning three days a week, and coaches wrestling at Fight Ready Gym in the evenings.

The most commendable asset to Saenz is his ability to be humble to his opponents. When Frankie was asked about his thoughts on Ticman, he responded by complimenting his opponents fighting style, and expresses his excitement and preparation for the fight tonight.

MyMMANews also got to ask how Frankie felt about tonight’s win against Ticman, and his reply was humorously truthful…

Saenz appreciates his opportunity to fight in the UFC, and remarks that he “will work harder than any other 135-pound fighter to be the best.” UFC fans will witness whether or not Frankie’s hard work and dedication will pay off against his opponent, tonight at 8 p.m. ET.
