Roy Nelson temporarily suspended, faces more suspensions and fines

We knew it was coming, we just didn’t know when or what to expect especially after UFC President Dana White gave his opinion on the matter.

After kicking referee ‘Big’ John McCarthy last month at UFC Fight Night 95 in Brazil, Roy Nelson has received a temporary suspension and could possibly face more suspensions and fines.Roy Nelson suspended

According to a document received at MMAFighting, Nelson was notified on Wednesday and issued a 90-day temporary suspension retroactive to September 29 for kicking McCarthy after his fight with Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Nelson. The document comes from The Superior Justice Court of MMA (STJDMMA).

Nelson stated that he felt McCarthy allowed the fight to go on for too long and that he had to punish his friend Silva for longer than he needed to.

“I didn’t want to hurt ‘Bigfoot’ more than I had to,” Nelson said in Brasilia. “And I got taken by the moment, because it’s like I’m beating the sh*t out of somebody and you’re like, dude, enough is enough. And for me, it hurt my feelings. And I apologize to Big John, but I wouldn’t take it back. It just hurt me, that I’ve got to keep on hitting a guy that doesn’t need to be hit.”

Some of the penalties that Nelson faces include: (Up to $30,000 fine, and six-month to two-year suspension) and unethical behavior (up to $10,000 fine, and 30-day to six-month suspension).
