A healthy Mark Coleman sends ‘Thank You’ to every fan who donated

Whether you donated one dollar or five thousand dollars, UFC Hall of Famer, Mark “The Hammer” Coleman wants to thank you for contributing to a GoFundMe page that was set up for him earlier this year.

Coleman, 50, also known as “The Godfather of Ground and Pound” last competed in mixed martial arts in 2010 against fellow Hall of Famer, Randy “The Natural” Couture.

The Hammer had a hip replacement in 2013, and after surgery was named wrestling coach for Team Penn on season 19 of The Ultimate Fighter.

After filming and returning home, Coleman’s hip popped out several times and pain began on the other side. He had struggled and lived with the pain for well over a year and would eventually become sick and admitted to the hospital for several days.

When released, Coleman went to see the hip doctor again and scheduled to have surgery on March 9, only to discover while open on operating table, he was full of infection and very close to being septic.  His entire hip had to be replaced, and the Hall of Famer didn’t have the health insurance needed for the costly repair.

Coleman’s good friend and fellow mixed martial artist Wes Sims set up the Go Fund Me account which is still receiving donations to this day.  The current total raised for Coleman’s surgeries has surpassed $49,000. You can contribute here https://www.gofundme.com/savethehammer

MyMMANews.com reporter Adam Crist caught up with a now healthy Mark Coleman at the MMA Classic Fan Expo in Syracuse, New York, October 4 where Coleman wanted to express his sincere thanks to every fan who contributed.  Coleman said whether you donated one dollar or $5,000 as UFC heavyweight Mark Hunt did, it is all very much appreciated.

Great jobs Saving the Hammer, MMA Fans.
