Aaron Garcia was arrested Sunday morning and booked in a Utah County Jail on suspicion of beating a woman in front of her children.

According to The Daily Herald, “Payson police were dispatched Saturday night to a home after a 911 call was disconnected, though a woman could be heard shouting in the background, reports state.

When officers arrived on scene, the victim’s child came to the door and let them inside.

The suspect, Aaron Garcia, 36, was also still in the home.

Garcia told police he had been drinking most of the evening and got frustrated enough at the victim that he hit her, though he didn’t remember how many times, reports state.

Police reported the victim had been crying and had a bruise and cut above her eye. There was blood on her clothing due to a large gash on her head.

The victim reported to police that Garcia hit her over the head with a wooden rolling pin. The rolling pin was found with blood on it and broken handles.

Garcia co-owned an MMA gym in Salem for several years and is a former MMA fighter, though he hasn’t fought competitively since June 2011.

Garcia was booked into jail on suspicion of one third-degree felony charge of aggravated assault and four third-degree felony charges of domestic violence in the presence of a child.”

Garcia went 3-5 in his professional mixed martial arts career including an April 2011 loss to UFC Hall of Famer, Dan “The Beast” Severn at King of the Cage – Texas.
