Amanda Ribas vs. Tracy Cortez added to December UFC card

An intriguing women’s flyweight bout between Amanda Ribas and Tracy Cortez has been added to an upcoming December UFC fight card.

ESPN’s Carlos Contreras Legaspi was the first to report the Ribas vs. Cortez matchup. According to the scribe, the bout will occur at a UFC event on December 3. At this point in time, we do not have a location or venue for this fight card, and this Ribas vs. Cortez matchup is the first bout added to it.

On paper, this is an exciting matchup between two ranked fighters. Ribas is currently the No. 10 ranked fighter at 115lbs, but she moved up to 125lbs in her last fight against No. 1 contender Katlyn Chookagian and lost a close split decision. She was recently bumped out of the women’s flyweight rankings, but she will get the chance to jump back into them with a win over No. 12 ranked Cortez.

Ribas (11-3) joined the UFC in 2019 and she has gone 5-2 overall in the promotion so far. Some of her most notable victories include Mackenzie Dern, Paige VanZant, and Virna Jandiroba. She is a powerful grappler with improving striking and she could certainly make a run at 125lbs. Now that she’s in a weight class where she doesn’t have to cut as much weight, she should perform even better.

Cortez (10-1) also joined the UFC in 2019 and since then she has gone 4-0 in the Octagon. She has strong wrestling skills and she has been able to take down the majority of her opponents and beat them on the ground. Some of her wins so far in the UFC include Melissa Gatto and Stephanie Egger. Cortez is hoping to make the jump up the flyweight ranks, and even though Ribas technically isn’t ranked, she is a very capable fighter and a win over her would be huge for Cortez’s resume.

Who do you think wins this fight between Amanda Ribas and Tracy Cortez?
