Anderson Silva pulled from UFC rankings, Jedrzejczyk added to P4P best

Following his one year suspension handed down by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) earlier this week, former UFC middleweight champion and one time pound-for-pound best, Anderson Silva, was pulled from their rankings, entirely.

As of just a few days ago “the Spider” was ranked on both the UFC middleweight top ten list and the pound-for-pound best rankings list.  Silva was ranked number six in the middleweight division, so everyone who was ranked from 7-13 has moved up a spot.

After Silva’s removal from the pound-for-pound list (a list comprised of the best fighters, open to all weight classes and both sexes), UFC women’s strawweight champion, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, climbed in at number 15.  Silva previously held the number 11 spot on that list.

The standard procedure in the UFC when a fighter is popped for failing a drug test is for that fighter to be immediately removed from the official UFC rankings, which is why longtime top-ten ranked lightweight contender Gilber Melendez was removed following a failed UFC 188 drug test.
