Andre Barquero Morera out of Combate Global main event fight with Jose Adlay For COVID Protocols

Just getting back to action and with a new TV deal, Combate Global’s card on May 14th takes a hit as Andre Barquero Morera has been pulled from his main event fight with Jose Alday pulled from the main event with Andre Barquero Morera due to a failure in COVID protocols. The fight was to take place at 135 and was to take place in Miami, Florida.

Alday is a 13-5-1 prospect and Andre Barquero Morera, who is 7-2, were booked to take on each other in the main event but now the fight is off sources tell My MMA News. Sources haven’t said if Morera has contracted the virus or if it was something else with the matter. Regardless, what is to happen with Alday is to be determined and the promotion doesn’t know if he will have a replacement or will not remain on the card just yet.

Combate Global has not yet announced any other fights for the upcoming card on the 14th aside from the Alday-Morera fight. More fights should be announced in the coming days.

Jose Alday and Combate Global

Alday is coming off of a loss in his last fight at Combate 46 in October 2019. His return was to be his seventh with Combate Global/Americas. The fight is not yet rescheduled but will not take place on the 14th of May.

Since joining the promotion, Alday has gone 3-3 with Combate Global and was looking to get over the hump over Morera. He’s compiled a 13-5-1 vet of the Mexican MMA scene and has been a part of Jungle Fights and Pancrase in addition to his stint with Combate.

Alday started his career off as a hot prospect at 8-0. He is currently ranked the 8th best bantamweight in the US Southwest region.
