Billy Quarantillo vs Bill Algeo scheduled for UFC Fight Night 210

The Ultimate Fighting Championship has some very exciting events and match ups coming to us in the following months, and UFC Fight Night 210 is no different.

UFC Fight Night 210 is to go down on July 16, 2022, at a to-be-determined venue.

One of those interesting and exciting matchups set to take place at UFC FN 210 comes in the featherweight division between Billy Quarantillo and Bill Algeo.

Coming over as a four-time ROC featherweight champion, Bill Algeo has gone just 2-2 thus far inside the octagon, though some would argue he should be 3-1 in the promotion.

After losing his debut in a very close fight to longtime top contender Ricardo Lamas (UD), Algeo has defeated Spike Carlyle (UD) and Joanderson Brito (UD), improving his record to 15-6.

Carlyle has gone 5-0 with five finishes since this fight, and Brito just viciously knocked out Andre Fili, becoming the first man to do so. The other defeat Algeo had in that time came to highly touted Brazilian prospect Ricardo Ramos (UD).

Then we have Billy Quarantillo, who came to the UFC after laying claim to the SOFC featherweight and KOTC lightweight championships. He did appear on The Ultimate Fighter 22, where he went 1-1 on the show, though the UFC neglected to sign him once it was over.

Nonetheless, he’d win his Contender Series fight about four years later, gaining him entrance into the UFC, and he’s gone 4-2 since, defeating the likes of Jacob Kilburn (triangle choke), Spike Carlyle (UD), Kyle Nelson (KO), and Gabriel Benitez (TKO).

The only two men to have defeated him inside the octagon are Gavin Tucker (UD) in a huge upset, and Shane Burgos (UD) in a fight he could’ve easily gotten the nod in. This defeat to Burgos brought his record to 15-4, quite similar to his opponent.

One could think, Quarantillo is better on the ground, both in the wrestling and grappling departments, while Algeo is presumably better on the feet.

Don’t let that fool you though; Quarantillo went toe-to-toe with Shane Burgos for three rounds and arguably won that fight, and Algeo is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

How do you see this featherweight contest going down?

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
