This coming weekend, grab your Gi, grab your friends, and head out to the Buckeye State for a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu seminar in support of cancer awareness.

Chad Kuhn, a BJJ brown belt is holding the seminar, October 15th with special guest, Clark Gracie.

Kuhn is the gym manager and head BJJ instructor of East Coast Martial Arts in Canton, Ohio.

“I originally started this event when my good friend, owner of our gym and fellow martial artist Steve Hindman was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in 2011. It was our way to give back and raise awareness,” Kuhn said.

“He went through intense treatment and multiple surgeries. The first doctor gave him six months to live, he fired him on the spot. Unfortunately he passed away in January of 2015. He was a fighter and proved so many wrong . Over the past four events we have enough raised over $20,000 for the Showers Family Center for Blood Disorders and Childhood Cancer at Akron children’s hospital,” Kuhn said.

Clark Gracie He is the grandson of Carlos Gracie, the founder and creator of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, and first eldest son of Carley Gracie, the father of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu in the United States. He is a 2013 Pan American champion in the middleweight division, submitting his opponent in the finals with his signature omoplata, or clarkoplata, finish.

He was awarded the Submission of the year award from the World Jiu Jitsu Expo for his Pan Am 2013 final match.
