CFFC Signs Unbeaten Prospect Sean Brady to Four-Fight Deal

CFFC Signs Unbeaten Prospect Sean Brady to Four-Fight Deal

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – Undefeated amateur Sean Brady has signed a four-fight deal with Cage Fury Fighting Championships and will make his professional debut here at CFFC 38 on August 9, officials announced this week.

“We scouted Sean on the amateur level and knew right away that he was extremely talented,” CFFC CEO Rob Haydak said. “I’ve watched him compete and I’ve seen him in the gym, he has all the tools to be a star. There is no doubt he will be in the mix for the CFFC title in later part of 2015.”

Brady, 21, trains out of Renzo Gracie in Philadelphia and went 5-0 as an amateur. In his most recent fight, Brady defeated Brandon Vernalli via first round rear-naked choke at CFFC 33 in March. He also owns a decision victory against highly touted prospect Stephfond Ewins, and stopped three of his five opponents, including two by submission.

Brady’s training partners and teammates include current unbeaten CFFC lightweight champion Paul “The Irish Dragon” Felder, as well as the undefeated Jonavin “Spyder” Webb, who will be fighting for the CFFC welterweight title the same day that Brady makes his pro debut.

“I train with the best team around,” Brady said. “All my guys are top-level guys. It’s time for me to make a change and start my own thing as a pro. Look for me to finish fights. That’s what I do. I like to get in and get out, and go home. I feel that I’m good everywhere. I call myself a mixed martial artist.”

Brady began studying muay Thai at the age of 15. He soon took up jiu jitsu and is now a purple belt. His goal is to fight as a lightweight, though his pro debut against Almquist will take place at a catchweight of 162.5.

Brady said his goal is simply to keep improving as a martial artist and, of course, to win. He added that he is happy to start his career with Cage Fury, the nation’s top regional promotion.

“They’re the best around. There’s no one like them. After this is the UFC,” he said. “There’s no other promotion that does what they do. The way they treat you is awesome.”

Brady will face Paul Almquist at CFFC 38. Almquist, also 21, won his pro debut at CFFC 35, submitting Brian Collins via second round arm bar. He finished 6-3 as an amateur despite starting out 0-2.

CFFC 38 will be held at the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa in Atlantic City and feature a stacked fight card, including several title fights.
