Conor McGregor goes after referee at Bellator 187 in Dublin

Several weeks ago UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor was reprimanded by referee Marc Goddard at UFC Fight Night 118 in Gdansk, Poland. McGregor was trying to act as an extra cornerman while teammate and friend Artem Lobov was competing inside the octagon against Andre Fili. Goddard had to temporarily halt the fight and have McGregor removed from cageside.

Today, McGregor took things a step further at Bellator 187 in Dublin, Ireland. Teammate Charlie Ward was fighting John Redmond when Ward won by knockout.

McGregor who was not a cornerman jumped over the cage to celebrate. He jumped on Ward and Goddard who was working as an official tried to break it up for some reason.

That outraged the UFC champion who then went after the official.

Take a look.

It does not appear that McGregor actually got to physically harm Goddard, however officials were not pleased with went down.  McGregor does shove Goddard from behind but not much else was done.  He did also swat at an official as he jumped into the cage and it appears as some contact was made.

ABC President Mike Mazzulli, who was serving in a regulatory capacity at the event, told MMAjunkie an official statement will be released within the next 24 hours.

No official announcement has been made as far as McGregor’s return to the UFC octagon althought UFC President Dana White was hopeful that it could be at the organization’s end of year card on December 30.
