Conor McGregor issued boxing license, California commission happy to license him

UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor was stripped of one of his two belts just days ago but today we are learning that Mystic Mac has been issued a boxing license in the state of California.

We first learned of the news via Brett Okamoto of ESPN.

It was then followed up with: “He got a license today and a federal ID,” California State Athletic Commission executive officer Andy Foster confirmed with MMAFighting.com. “He’s a California boxer now.”

“He’s qualified [as a boxer],” Foster said. “I’d love to see him fight in California. It just needs to be the right opponent. Certainly a high-level opponent. We’re happy to license him. We’re happy he’s a California fighter.”

Is this the first step to Conor McGregor boxing Floyd Mayweather?

Conor McGregor boxing on a professional level is not a relatively new idea as the UFC champion has been toying with the idea of challenging famed boxing champion Floyd Mayweather on multiple occasions.

Where this license will take us is anyone’s guess but knowing Conor, he has a plan up his sleeve…. and it’s going to make money.
