Conor McGregor can claim to inspire a slew of fighters, thanks to his style in and out of the Octagon. Now he is also the inspiration for a record-breaking band.

The Black Donnellys, a Las Vegas-based Irish band, have penned “Notorious” – a tribute song that has become an anthem for UFC 202.

In an interview with Hotpress.com, band member Dave Browne explains what compelled him and fellow band member Dave Rooney to write the song.

“Conor comes from a tradition of Irish warriors that stretches back thousands of years, and we wanted to try to capture that Celtic fighting spirit in our song,” Browne said. “As Conor says – ‘when one of us go to war, we all go to war,’ and we’re delighted that our song we be playing in the lead-up to this battle.”

The Black Donnellys are based in Vegas, but they are known worldwide, thanks to their exploits being in The Guinness Book of World Records in the past, including holding the record for a marathon guitar session (Browne played 114 hours) and the longest gig (the duo performed for 16 days in October 2014 at Ri Ra Las Vegas).
