Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino In Negotiations With Lorenzo Fertitta

There were talks in the past of bringing in Invicta FC featherweight champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino to the UFC. Unfortunately, those discussions between both sides died down as neither side could come to an agreement. ZUFFA CEO Lorenzo Fertitta told ESPN MMA reporter Brett Okamoto that discussions have resurrected again.

Last year Cyborg was to debut at 135 in Invicta and with a win she might have landed in the UFC, however Justino halted all the talk when she said she was no longer interested in the move to 135 because of health issues.

Fertitta told ESPN that he was in negotiations with Justino’s management over the last couple of weeks. The deal, according to Fertitta, would keep Justino (12-1, 1 NC) as the Invicta featherweight champion, and bringing her in to fight UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey (10-0) in a super fight between the two organizations.

Fertitta feels very confident that this deal could happen, but there are still a few things that would need tweaked out for the deal to be agreed upon between both sides. “(Justino) needs to prove she can get down to 135 pounds before we would take the risk of making that fight happen.” Fertitta told ESPN.

“I feel fairly positive if Cyborg can get to 135 pounds, we will be able to make that fight,” Fertitta continued,”(Rousey versus Justino) has to happen at 135 pounds.” There were talks at one time to have the two female stars to meet at a catch weight, but it sounds that the UFC wants to keep this in the bantamweight division.
