Fallon Fox documentary “Game Face” now available on NetFlix

Netflix has reeled in worldwide rights to ‘Game Face’, the award-winning documentary about Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Queer (LGBTQ) athletes coming out. The inspiring film tells the parallel stories of Fallon Fox, the first professional female transgender MMA fighter, and Terrence Clemens, a college basketbal l player in Oklahoma, who happens to be gay. Jason Collins, the first openly gay active NBA player shines as Terrence’s mentor.

‘Game Face’ is the directorial debut of Belgian native Michiel Thomas (29). The documentary played at more than 45 film festivals world wide, including a selection for DOC NYC, America’s largest documentary film festival. In June 2015, ‘Game Face’ won the audience award for best documentary at Frameline, one of their 12 festival awards thus far.

“Our goal was to reach as many people as possible with this important topic,” says Thomas. “Now millions of people will have the opportunity to watch Fallon and Terrence share their inner selves, struggles and strengths.” Fallon Fox is ecstatic about the partnership with Netflix: “I’m incredible excited to have such a big platform to educate and inspire people with this film.” “I’m grateful that we’ll be able to save kids from battles I had to deal with,” says Terrence Clemens.

Sales Agent Orly Ravid from the Film Collaborative completed the deal. ‘Game Face’ will be released on Netflix starting February 1st 2016. One day later, on February 2nd 2016, the feature doc will be available on iTunes (https://itunes.apple.com/us/movie/game-face/id1072015814), Google Play and Amazon Prime.

Fallon Fox, Terrence Clemens and Michiel Thomas, will continue their tour with the film, as their next goal is to bring ‘Game Face’ into the classrooms.

According to Fox’s Wikipedia page: “As a teenager, Fox believed she may have been a gay male, but learned about the term “transgender” at the age of 17.Fox continued living as a heterosexual male and married her then-girlfriend at the age of 19 when the latter became pregnant with their daughter. Fox then joined the US Navy to support her new family, serving as an operations specialist on the USS Enterprise.

After leaving the Navy, Fox enrolled at the University of Toledo, but dropped out citing ongoing psychological stress from her unresolved gender issues. After leaving college, Fox worked as a truck driver to earn money for sex reassignment surgery. She later moved to Chicago, Illinois with her daughter. In 2006, she traveled to Bangkok, Thailand to undergo gender reassignment surgery, breast augmentation, and hair transplant surgeries at the Bangkok International Hospital.”

She holds a professional mixed martial arts record of 5-1 but has not fought since her last victory in September 2014 over Tamikka Brents.
