Forgot About Cub Swanson? Big Mistake

Following UFC 179’s main event between defending featherweight champion Jose Aldo and contender Chad Mendes, the “talk of the town” in the 145 pound division was Conor McGregor.

Swanson was merely a tear drop in the ocean. Make no mistake about it, McGregor’s name deserves to be in the limelight with his 16-2 record and 12-fight winning streak. Swanson however has a six-fight winning streak in the UFC, more wins than the Irishman.

Swanson (21-5) is scheduled to fight former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar (17-4-1) in the main event of UFC Fight Night on November 22.

Swanson was “assured” of a title fight if he wins his bout against Edgar when the fight was signed, however, with all of the McGregor hype on his upcoming match with Dennis Siver, talks seems to favor McGregor if he wins.

The champion himself, Aldo may even be looking past Swanson and Edgar and eying up the fight who will bring in the most money.

“I can’t just think about going in there and winning; there’s a lot of people that depend on me. If it’s Conor, we’re going to do great promotion and a great fight,” Aldo said.

Swanson says he likes (Frankie) Edgar, but he will be taking his frustrations out on him and ready for his title shot against Jose Aldo next.

In the end, there always is the high possibility of Aldo sitting out with an injury (looking at his track record with training injuries), and an interim title match between McGregor and Swanson arising if both fighters win their respective matches.

What do you think MyMMANews fans….is Cub Swanson getting the cold shoulder?
