Herbert Burns set to return at UFC’s July 16th Fight Night

Herbert “The Blaze” Burns has recently signed a four-fight deal with the UFC and finally has an official matchup for his return to the octagon.

Following a knee injury, Burns was forced out of competition as he went through the surgery and recovery process. Nearly two years later, he is set to face UFC newcomer Khusein Askhabov on July 16th.

Burns (11-3-0) is the younger brother of top UFC welterweight Gilbert Burns and is looking to make a name for himself in the promotion. Since making his way to the UFC by way of the Dana Whites Contender Series, he has gone 2-1 with submission victories over Nate Landwehr and Evan Dunham. In his last outing, he suffered a loss to Daniel Pineda at UFC 252.

Across from Burns will be undefeated 27-year-old Khusein Askhabov. Making his UFC debut come July, the 23-0-0 Askhabov has put together an impressive resume on the European and Russian circuits with 16 of his 23 wins coming by way of a finish.

UFC Fight Night: Ortega vs. Rodriguez takes place on July 16th. The time and location have yet to be determined.
