Horrible ticket sales for UFC 186 force Bell Centre to close half the arena

If you are in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and want to go to UFC 186 this Saturday night at the Bell Centre, tickets just got a whole lot cheaper.

Because of poor ticket sales the 200, 300, and 400 sections of the arena for the event were closed off just a few days before it is set to go down.

Fans who had those seats will now be moved to better sections.  Other tickets are still available for $68.25

One can only speculate but the reason for poor sales could be because headlining rematch between T.J. Dillashaw and Renan Barao was scrapped, as well as the on-again, off-again Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson bout.  Let’s not forget Rory MacDonald (a Canadian draw) was supposed to fight Hector Lombard but after Lombard was suspended MacDonald was moved to a championship bout with Robbie Lawler later this year.

The UFC has drawn in excess of 23,000 people to events in the Bell Centre before, and drew 20,145 for their last event in the arena in 2013. They’ve never done less than 17,000 in any of their six events in the home of the Montreal Canadiens, but that will apparently change Saturday night.

Had former welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre been on the card the event would have been a sell out.

UFC 186 Johnson vs. Horiguchi could possibly be the least bought UFC pay-per-view in the modern era.  Demetrious Johnson was also on the card that currently holds that record, UFC 174 when he defended his title against Ali Baugitinov in June last year.
