Ilia Topuria, Rodolfo Vieira removed from UFC 270, card down to 11 fights

UFC 270 has taken a hit on weigh-in day.

Early Friday morning, it was revealed by ESPN Deportes that Rodolfo Vieira was forced out of his main card fight against Wellington Turman due to medical reasons. Then, just hours later, it was reported by Gonzalo Campos that Topuria was removed from his UFC 270 scrap against Charles Jourdain due to weight cut issues.

Ilia Topuria (11-0) is coming off a first-round KO win over Ryan Hall at UFC 264 back in July. Prior to that, he scored a KO win over Damon Jackson in December of 2020 after defeating Youssef Zalal by decision on short notice on Fight Island back in October of 2020. The Georgian was scheduled to fight Movsar Evloev on the card but Evloev was forced out of the bout and replaced by Charles Jourdain.

Rodolfo Vieira (8-1), returned to the win column last time out with a submission win over Dustin Stolzfus. In the fight prior, he suffered a shocking submission loss to Anthony Hernandez at UFC 258. The Brazilian is currently 3-1 inside the Octagon with his other two wins coming over Saparbek Safarov and Oskar Piechota. Before signing with the UFC, he competed in ACB and ACA in Russia.

The main event sees the heavyweight title on the line as Francis Ngannou takes on the interim champ, Ciryl Gane.
