Invicta FC 17 Results – Evinger vs Schneider, Souza vs Hill

Invicta FC 17 from The Hangar at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa, California, streamed exclusively on UFC Fight Pass beginning at 9 p.m. EST.

The card includes two title fights.  In the main event, bantamweight champion Tonya Evinger defended against challenger, Colleen Schneider.  Early on in the first round the champion received an accidental poke in the eye that halted the contest temporarily.  Evinger recovered, came back and dominated the rest of the round and the majority of the next several but the athletic Schneider hung in and continued her assault on Evinger.  Evinger continued to work the take down and ground and pound en route to a unanimous decision victory to retain her title.

In the co-main event Livia Renata Souza defended her strawweight title against former Ultimate Fighting Championship contestant, Angela Hill.  Yesterday during the weigh-ins, the champion walked right up to Hill and greeted her wtih a middle finger to the face before the staredown.  No love is lost between these two.

Charmaine Tweet vs Latoya Walker started off shaky as both fighters were a bit off their game, but it ended in dramatic fashion as a spinning backfist floored Walker and it looked as if she was knocked out but Tweet pounced in for more before referee Herb Dean pulled her off and the action was called to a halt.  Tweet earned a first round TKO victory and in her post fight interview stated that she is unsure what is going on with the division as the champion Cris Cyborg moves to the UFC next weekend.

What an impressive victory for Megan Anderson who defeated Amanda Bell via TKO at the bell in between the first and second round.  Also, Kaline Medeiros impressed the Invicta FC staff as she came into this fight with Aline Serio on just one week’s notice and worked for a TKO victory over Aline Serio in the second round.
