Invicta FC 19 results:  Maia vs. Modafferi

Invicta FC 19: Maia vs. Modafferi was held Friday, September 23 from the the Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Missouri.

In the main event, Jennifer Maia went up against Roxanne Modafferi for the Invicta flyweight title.  It was a hard fought battle but in the end Maia won via split decision to become the undisputed champion.

Also, Ayaka Hamasaki defended her atomweight title against Jinh Yu Frey in the co-main event.  Frey was finding success in the fight but was cut over the eye and the fight was cut short resulting in a successful defense for the champion.

The most impressive win of the night thus far has to be Marine Corps Veteran .50 Kal, Kalyn Schwartz who defeated kickboxing sensation Tiffany Van Soest via submission in the second round.  Schwartz not only made her Invicta FC debut, but also her pro MMA debut on the card, beating a top opponent.

Irene Aldana was not far behind, if at all however, with her first round TKO win over Faith Van Duin.  One would have to think that a rematch with champion Tonya Evinger is next.
