The “Janitor” Vladimir Matyushenko Retires from MMA

Vladimir Matyushenko laid his gloves in the ring and announced his retirement following his loss to Joey Beltran last night at Bellator 116. The 43-year-old native of Belarus known as “The Janitor”, went 27-8 fighting in many major promotions including the UFC, Bellator, and the defunct Affliction.

Matyushenko was submitted by way of third round north-south choke at the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California, April 11, 2014.

Matyushenko’s debut came at IFC 5 when he fought and won three matches in the same night. During his first stint in the UFC, Matyushenko fought and lost via decision to (former) light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz at UFC 33.
