#1 P4P female fighter in New York, Jillian DeCoursey hoping for Invicta call

The number one ranked pound-for-pound female fighter in the state of New York, Jillian ‘Lionheart’ DeCoursey (7-1) speaks with MyMMANews about a variety of topics to include her most recent win that took place this past Friday at ‘World’s Collide’, a co-promotion between top New York based amateur mixed martial arts organizations KTFO Fights and Aggressive Combat Championships (ACC). The two companies have since formed to create Triton Fights and their first show is planned for early 2017.Jillian DeCoursey

With her win, DeCoursey now holds so many titles that UFC star Conor McGregor would be jealous.  She defeated Lindsey VanZandt to capture the USMTA atomweight champion, December 16, and now has her eyes set on going pro and fighting for Invicta FC.  She also holds the ACC strawweight title.

Fight Talk

DeCoursey talks about the fight, her personal assessment of being ranked as the number one female fight in New York, plans to go pro, and why she would like to fight at 105-pounds for Invicta.

“It’s definitely pretty cool to be considered the number one pound-for-pound female in New York, especially when you are fighting out of the smallest weight class.  I just feel like it holds more weight. Definitely gets me lots of hype.  It’s pretty cool just to be like ‘Hey, I’m number one.’

Heart of  Lion

‘Lionheart’ truly showed that she has the heart of a lion as she lost her father to cancer earlier this year.  DeCoursey talks about what it was like to lose her biggest fan and how it affected her training/fight preparation.

The champion also makes a prediction for the upcoming UFC 207 fight card where we will see the return of probably the most famous female fighter on the planet Ronda Rousey. Ronda looks to get back what was once hers when she battles with against Amanda Nunes on December 30.

How does Jillian DeCoursey see this fight going down? Tune in below to found out and to listen to the rest of the interview.
