Jim Miller signs four-fight contract extension with the UFC

UFC legend Jim Miller, who picked up a huge win over Donald Cerrone at UFC 276, has agreed to a new four-fight contract with the UFC.

Miller was on the last fight of his UFC contract heading into Saturday’s fight with Cerrone. According to TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter, however, he has signed a four-fight contract extension with the world’s leading MMA promotion. Since he was already under contract for one last fight, this means that four more fights have been added to the legend’s UFC contract. Had he not signed the deal, he would have become a free agent, but he had told reporters during pre-fight interviews he wanted a new contract. He never had any intention of testing free agency, and he always wanted to re-up with the UFC.

BREAKING: Jim Miller has agreed to a four fight extension with the UFC. He signed it yesterday following ceremonial weigh-ins.

Miller beat Cerrone on Saturday at UFC 276 via second-round submission, which gave him 24 wins as a UFC fighter — the most all-time with the promotion. He is one of the best lightweights to ever fight inside the Octagon, and even though he has never won the UFC lightweight title, he is still considered by most observers of the sport to be a mortal lock to enter the UFC Hall of Fame when his career is up.

Miller previously competed at UFC 100 and UFC 200 and he has stated that his goal is to make it to UFC 300 and then retire after fighting at that event. Given the UFC typically holds about 12 pay-per-view cards a year, it seems likely that UFC 300 will be in July 2024. Given that Miller just signed a two-fight deal, and given that he typically fights two times a year, this new contract extension will likely carry him right into UFC 300, making it the perfect contract for both Miller and the company.

Who do you want to see Jim Miller fight next after finishing Donald Cerrone at UFC 276?
