Jon Jones Drag Racing; Cited by Police Again – Video Shows ‘Bones’ Call Cop a “Pig” & “Liar”

Less than a week after former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones was cleared on charges for failure to produce a driver’s license, registration, and proof of insurance, he was pulled over for drag racing.

According to TMZ, the incident in Albuquerque, New Mexico happened late last Thursday night/Friday morning and Jones was issued five citations — the main was for drag racing. The other four citations were for “equipment issues” including a modified exhaust and an “issue” with his license plate.

Jones is already on probation for a hit and run that occurred last year.

In this most recent incident a police video shows Jones arguing with the officer, calling him both a “liar” and a “pig.”

Jones later apologized for the situation stating:

“I was not drag racing nor was I speeding. I did not get a speeding ticket. I was driving within the speed limit of the 35mph zone.”

“I feel that police used a technicality to ticket me for drag racing, for simply revving my engine and acknowledging some of my local fans. I regrettably said words to the police officer out of frustration, for which I apologize for, but I do feel this was excessive.”

The UFC has issued a statement regarding Jones’ most recent trouble with the law:

The UFC issued a statement saying, “We are aware of the situation and are looking into the matter. We’ve also been in touch with Jon’s team regarding the matter.”

He is scheduled to challenge UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier for the title next month at UFC 197.
