Jon Jones win over Daniel Cormier overturned by CSAC, no word yet on title from UFC

The California State Athletic Commission met today and has overturned Jon Jones’ UFC 214 knockout win over Daniel Cormier.

The CSAC indefinitely suspended Jones and fined him after the “A” sample of his July 28 drug test came back positive on Aug. 22. Jones won the title from Cormier on July 29, one day after the test had been taken.

Then yesterday, the initial finding was confirmed with a “B” sample and today’s meeting ruled the fight a no-contest.

Jones’ attorney Howard Jacobs provided a statement MMAjunkie: “We only received the notification late last night, after the announcement. We will review the documentation that we have received and continue our investigation, but none of this changes the fact that Jon Jones has never knowingly taken this substance.”

The CSAC will conduct another hearing on Oct. 17 to determine Jones’ final punishment.  There is no word yet from the UFC as to what will happen with the title.  UFC President Dana White has said previously that if Jones is suspended then Cormier will get the title back.  Next month we will likely find out the outcome of the title picture.

Jones and his management team still claim that he is innocent.
