Jon Jones sends message to Conor McGregor following UFC 196 loss

Following his UFC 196 main-event loss to Nate Diaz, mixed martial arts fans were divided between those who supported and those who denounced Conor McGregor for moving up to 170 pounds.

McGregor seemed to have accepted the defeat despite all the back and forth trash talk before the fight took place.

“This is the game: We win some we lose some, (but) I will never shy away from a challenge, and I will never shy away from defeat,” McGregor said. “This is part of the game. I am happy to come out there, continue to stay in this fight. I had many chances to not do this and sit and wait, but I went in, and I took a fight, and it didn’t pay off. This is the fight business. It’s another day, and I’ll come back.”

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones was one of those who stood behind McGregor.

“I wanted to take a quick second to shout out Conor McGregor for the way he handled defeat last night,” Jones says in the video. “He really handled it like a champion. You know, he took a gamble, fighting anyone, anywhere. (It was) a gamble he lost, but in a way he won because he really got to show some great character. So, shout out to you.”
