Jordan Griffin joins Roufusport teammates to Las Vegas for TUF 22 tryouts

On Saturday, Roufusport of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, will be sending five teammates out to Las Vegas to the TUF (The Ultimate Fighter) 22 tryouts where the UFC is searching for the next season’s cast members. TUF 22 will host fighters competing inside the lightweight and welterweight divisions.

Jordan “The Psycho Hammer” Griffin (9-4) will be joined by teammates “Nasty” Nate Jennerman (5-1), R’mandel Cameron (4-1), Kevin Vazquez (3-0), and Craig Eckelberg (4-0). Jennerman and Griffin are both lightweights, and Cameron and Eckelberg will look to make season 22 as a welterweight.

Griffin is heading out to Las Vegas at the right moment, as he just came off a five-round battle. He is full of confidence after winning the Dakota Fighting Championship’s 145-pound belt by majority decision against the defending DFC champion.

“I just want to go out there and have fun,” said Griffin, when asked about his mind set headed out to Sin City. Going five-rounds for the first time in his career he didn’t appear to fatigue at all showcasing great cardio. In addition to his stamina, he displayed much improved takedown defense against a tough wrestler. Griffin displayed a great amount of growth in his title fight against Cameron Ramberg at Dakota FC 21. He’s also an interesting personality that won’t hesitate to speak his mind.

“I think they are looking for personality. I want to show what I can do, but at the same time if I make it to the interview part I just want to be me.”

Even though Griffin has been cutting weight to make 145-pounds for his last several fights, he’s not going to pass up an opportunity and will enter TUF tryouts at a heavier weight class.

“155 I can make easily, and I have so much energy,” said Griffin. Griffin believes that fighting at lightweight will give him an advantage with speed and strength at the weight class due to the little bit of weight he will be cutting. “My game is on another level at 155,”

Griffin and his teammates used the popular website GoFundme.com to help raise money for each one of them to off-set costs required to make the trip in search of their dreams of becoming a UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) athlete. In only a month, 13 people have aided Griffin by donating a combined $515 to help him chase his dreams.

On his GoFundME page, his last fight for the title at Dakota FC 21 is available to watch as well as an explanation of why he’s asking to be funded. “My dream is to fight for the UFC. Well, an opportunity has just presented itself and I feel I need to go for it. The problem is it’s across the country in Las Vegas.”

Griffin is easily summed up as a character. While doing all the right things for himself and his future outside the cage (attending school to earn his degree in nutrition), he has a vibrant personality that makes it easy for anyone to like him.

Griffin plans to introduce his signature move the “Dirty Dog”. “I basically hump my steel cup into the opponent’s face. Perfectly legal.” said Griffin. Imagine being on top in a north-south position, then using your steel cup to blast an opponent’s face using a hip thrusting movement. It might have little impact on an opponent, but it will likely embarrass them.

Don’t be surprised if the Roufusport fighter becomes a cast member. He is an exciting fighter to watch and an entertaining person to listen to. He has the mojo The Ultimate Fighter is looking for. Stay tuned to hear Griffin’s progress at the TUF 22 tryouts, as well as a fight announcement in the near future.

Good luck at TUF 22 tryouts Jordan Griffin!
