Josh Samman fighting for life; in critical condition, unresponsive

Josh Samman, 28, passes away after near week long coma

After spending nearly a week in a coma in hospital in Hollywood, Florida, UFC middleweight fight Josh Samman has tragically passed away.

Samman, 28, was admitted last Thursday night after he and friend Troy Kirkingburg were found unresponsive in an apartment. Kirkingburg was pronounced dead while Samman was fighting for his life.

Samman’s manager Gary Ibarra confirmed the news of Samman’s passing to FOX Sports on Wednesday while also saying that the fighter’s family is in mourning but will be releasing a statement at some point later in the day.

Samman first debuted as part of the UFC roster when he joined Jon Jones’ team on the 17th season of “The Ultimate Fighter”. Samman went onto win his first three fights in the UFC including back-to-back ‘Performance of the Night’ victories over Eddie Gordon and Caio Magalhaes.

No foul play is suspected.
