Former Boxing Champion Laila Ali comments on Ronda Rousey’s UFC 207 loss

Former boxing champ Laila Ali appeared on the Rich Eisen show where she talked about former UFC women’s bantamweight champion, Ronda Rousey’s most recent loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC 207.

Laila Ali – “It’s sad to see somebody who was way up here, get knocked all the way down to the bottom.  And you know, it’s really sad to see how sometimes the fans can turn on you.  Now they’re making memes and making fun of her. They bought into that she was so great and she was the best, you know?  Then it’s a best let down to see that somebody can’t take a punch in this sport because you’ve got to be able to do that.  Now that her chin has been exposed, I think that everyone’s gonna be going for it.  It’s kind of sad to see, but I remember when they wanted to see us fight.  They were trying to promote a fight between us but now they want me to help train her. ‘Train Ronda Rousey.’ But I thought, you thought she could beat me? What happened?”

Rich Eisen – “So would you do that?”

Laila Ali – “I don’t train fighters.  I never have.  Especially… you can’t train somebody’s chin to take a punch.  For the right amount of money, yeah we could make it happen.  It would be interesting to see, could Laila bring her back?”
