Lion Fight signs elite prospect Antonina Shevchenko

Antonina ShevchenkoLion Fight Promotions has bolstered its stable of exciting world-class fighters with the signing of 2016 K1 Enfusion Tournament winner and WKC world champion, Antonina Shevchenko.

Shevchenko, whose sister Valentina recently signed with the UFC, agreed to a multi-fight contract with the premier Muay Thai fighting organization.

“Lion Fight continually searches out the top talent and it is a global approach,” said Scott Kent, President & CEO of Lion Fight Promotions.

“Antonina is an exceptionally skilled fighter and we are very excited that will be showcasing her talents inside the Lion Fight ring.”

Shevchenko is originally from Kyrgyzstan and now lives in Lima, Peru. She captured the K1 Enfusion tournament title earlier this year with back-to-back victories over Laetitia Bakissy and Shana Lammers. Prior to that, Shevchenko was a three-time IFMA Muay Thai champion, earning top spot at events in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Malaysia. Shevchenko, whose mother also practiced martial arts, has also claimed WKC titles in kickboxing and Thai boxing.

“I am very happy that this new year has been very productive and exciting start for me. I have signed a contract with Lion Fight Promotions, one of the biggest Muay Thai Promotions in the world,” said Shevchenko.

“Fighting for Lion Fight is a big step in my professional career. I will work hard to be the next champion, and I hope my competing in the promotion will be interesting, stirring, and prosperous. I look forward to my first fight for such a great promotion.”

Shevchenko’s debut fight in the lightweight division will be announced as soon as possible.

The organization’s next event will be Lion Fight 29 taking place on Friday, May 27th at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut. Lion Fight 29 will also air live on AXS TV Fights with a special start time of 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT with the action called by the nenowned duo of “The Voice” Michael Schiavello and UFC Hall of Famer Pat Miletich.
