Luke Rockhold Requests Fight With Lyoto Machida – Dana White “Ready”

Following Lyoto Machida’s impressive win over CB Dollaway at UFC Fight Night: Machida vs. Dollaway, number five ranked middleweight Luke Rockhold complimented Machida’s performance followed by a request to UFC president Dana White for a match up against the former light heavyweight champion.

“@lyotomachidafw looked good. I’m ready when you are @danawhite” said Rockhold (13-2) via twitter. The social media-active Dana White did not hesitate to get back to Rockhold, and was in total agreement that this is the most logical fight to happen next between two of the top five middleweight contenders.

“@LukeRockhold @lyotomachidafw I have been ready bro!!!! I get home tomorrow and will call u this week.” White wrote back within 20 minutes of Rockhold’s original message. Machida (22-5) is currently the number four middleweight in the UFC rankings, one spot ahead of Rockhold, and he may bump up higher after his Saturday night TKO victory.

Rockhold is on a very impressive three-fight win streak, finishing all of his opponents, and Machida is now a winner of three of his last four fights, with his only loss coming to a decision loss in a middleweight title fight to Chris Weidman.

The other fighters ahead of Machida and Rockhold are all booked, with #3 Vitor Belfort fighting the champion Weidman, #2 Ronaldo Souza against #6 Yoel Romero, and #1 Anderson Silva returning after a brutal leg break to face the charismatic Nick Diaz.

No official agreement has come from Machida’s camp on this fight, yet.
