Matt Brown: Frankie Edgar Deserves Title Shot, Not Conor McGregor

UFC welterweight competitor Matt Brown was on The Great MMA Debate podcast recently, and voiced his opinion regarding the state of the flyweight division.

“What the f*** has Conor done compared to what Frankie’s done? Frankie deserves it. Period.”

Brown would continue saying that a title shot should be based on real stats and facts, not just being able to talk trash and sell tickets.

Frankie Edgar has accrued three straight wins beating Charles Oliveria, B.J. Penn, and Cub Swanson this past weekend. Edgar also can add  being the former UFC lightweight champion to his resume.

Conor McGregor’s stats are very impressive as well, as he has not lost in nearly four years, and is on a current 12-fight win streak (with a perfect 4-0 UFC record). McGregor’s four UFC victories were Marcus Brimage, Max Holloway, Diego Brandao, and Dustin Poirier.

McGregor will have to face Dennis Siver, January 18 at UFC Fight Night in Boston. A win would make McGregor a perfect 5-0 in the UFC.

Do you agree with Matt Brown? Should Frankie Edgar get the next title shot, or should McGregor pending the outcome against Siver?
