Matt “Gutter” Van Buren discusses releases from UFC, Prize fight will go where money takes him

Matt Van Buren (6-4) explained to MyMMANews.com, what he believes led to his recent release from the UFC.

“Gutter” who was a finalist on season 19 of The Ultimate Fighter lost in the finale and then was given one more chance to fight for the organization.  Van Buren explains that other fights were offered to include one where he had to pull out due to an injury and then what he believes is a simple misunderstanding on the part of the matchmakers.

Van Buren states that he was offered a fight for an upcoming January 2 show, but declined the bout because the opponent named was a new training partner.  Gutter explained that he believes the UFC was unaware of his new fight team when he responded with the decline.

While the fighter was released, UFC President Dana White did offer comfort to the light heavweight Van Buren by assuring him he would be back.

How he would get back was still in question.

Van Buren called himself a “prize fighter” and said he would go wherever the money takes him.  Gutter has already fought for Bellator, going 2-2 in the organization but when asked if he would seek out the World Series of Fighting or Titan FC, he simply said “
