Matt Hamill signs with WSOF, will fight July 5

Matt “the Hammer” Hamill is the latest UFC veteran to have signed with the World Series of Fighting.  Hammer will fight July 5, although no opponent has been named as of yet.

Hamill took to Twitter to confirm his signing: @Hamillufc wrote “It’s confirmed..I will fight July 5th for WSOF.”

Hamill gained notoriety on season 3 of the Ultimate Fighter where he was coached by Tito Ortiz.  Hamill was the first ever deaf fighter to sign with the UFC and quickly rose up the ladder in the light heavyweight standings, eventually defeating Ortiz in a battle of student versus teacher.

Hamill has a professional record of 11-5, with his only losses coming at the hands of fighters Michael Bisping, Rich Franklin, Quinton Jackson, Alexander Gustafsson, and Thiago Silva.  Hamill is also the only fighter to hold a win over current UFC champion Jon Jones.

There is no word as to the specifics of Hamill’s new contract but we here at MyMMANews.com wish him the very best of luck.

WSOF lightweight champion Justin Gaethje will meet Nick Newell in the main event of the July 5 card.
