Jason “Mayhem” Miller, a mixed martial arts fighter with a history of clashing with police, was arrested again over the weekend, this time on suspicion of attacking a woman, injuring a security guard and spitting on a police officer at a Costa Mesa restaurant.

Costa Mesa police said they responded around 2 a.m. Sunday to the Saddle Ranch Chop House at the Triangle shopping center, where security guards had tackled Miller.

“He’d apparently gotten into some kind of argument with a couple of women and was in the process of assaulting them when security took him to the ground,” police Sgt. Matt Selinske said.

Security staff handcuffed Miller, but he kept struggling and was trying to stand up when police arrived, Selinske said.

As police were taking Miller into custody, he spit on one of the officers, according to Selinske.

Miller’s face was bleeding, apparently from being tackled, so officers took him to a hospital before he was booked into Orange County Jail on suspicion of assault and battery, assault on a police officer and public intoxication, Selinske said.

He was cited and released Sunday night, according to jail records.

One of the security guards suffered a sprained wrist during the struggle with Miller, according to police.

Miller, a 35-year-old Mission Viejo resident, is familiar to police in Orange County, who have arrested him about a half-dozen times in the past few years.

In March, he was arrested on a warrant in connection with vandalizing a now-closed tattoo shop in Lake Forest in January.

In February, Irvine police arrested Miller on suspicion of driving under the influence.

In October, Miller was accused of throwing a tile at Orange County sheriff’s deputies and menacing them with a fire extinguisher and metal pole after they responded to a call about a disturbance at his home.

In March 2015, authorities alleged that Miller fought with police after reportedly breaking a glass and causing a disturbance at a Laguna Beach restaurant. After being arrested, police alleged, Miller kicked out a police cruiser’s window on the way to jail.

In October 2014, Miller live-tweeted an hours-long standoff with police after officers arrived at his home to arrest him in connection with a domestic violence warrant.

And in 2012, Miller was charged with vandalism on allegations that he broke into an Orange County church and was sleeping naked on a couch. The case was later dropped.
