MediPets CBD, CBD Oil for Dogs
When people think about Cannabidiol use, they often only think about treatment in humans, but did you know that your dog too can benefit from CBD oils/treats?
Research continues daily but scientists are discovering that CBD oil for dogs can provide comfort and relief for many of our K-9 friends that are suffering from a number of ailments including arthritis, cancer, tumors, nausea, stress, gastrointestinal issues, seizures, or anxiety.
Think about yourself. What do you do when you are in pain? You look for a remedy, whether it be an ibuprofen, or a topical cream, you are looking for a solution. Shouldn’t we do the same for our beloved pets?
“The cannabinoids interact with the receptors in the body and modulate things like pain, anxiety, and nausea,” said Dr. Tim Shu.
Unfortunately there are no FDA-regulated dosages for dogs taking CBD.
Weight is currently the main deciding factor when determining how much CBD a dog should have. Recommendations vary by who you talk to, but the general idea seems to be 1-5 mg for every 10 pounds of body weight.
When taken in normal dosages there seems to be no negative side effects, but just like with any medicine, you should consult your pet’s veterinarian before treatment.
“It doesn’t damage the kidney, liver, or GI tract. The dogs aren’t high or sedated,” Shu said.
Given what we know about CBD oil for dogs, why wouldn’t you want to take care of Man’s Best Friend?
Though there are some topical treatments, cannabis oil is typically administered orally to dogs. This means that you do not need to inject your pet with any needles. Providing treatment is as simple as rubbing an oil or lotion on it’s skin, or giving them a treat.
Bigger dogs will likely require higher daily dosages than smaller dogs, and higher-potency oils are more expensive, but it could mean all the difference in how your pet lives their life.
As with any pet wellness trend, when it comes to CBD oil for dogs, there’s a lot of information floating around online. Do some research and find out how you can help your furry friends out.
