Miesha Tate has an addiction to being punched in the face

UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate will defend her title against Amanda Nunes at UFC 200 on July 9.  Tate opens up with Yahoo Sports about the thrill of the fight and taking that first punch to the face.

“Taking a punch to the face isn’t fun, but I think for mixed martial arts athletes it’s kind of addicting. It’s one of those things that when I get into the cage and I get hit, I get that first solid hit, I know that I’m alive, and I know that I’m there in that moment to do one job and that’s to dismantle the person that’s standing in front of me, that’s trying to hurt me. That’s just an exhilerating feeling and it’s also a very rewarding feeling.”

Tate captured the title earlier this year when she submitted then champion Holly Holm.   Holm of course won the belt from Tate’s most heated rival, Ronda Rousey, with a devastating head kick in Australia that shocked the world.
