Saturday’s NAFC “Uprising” features Women’s MMA, Plus Over A Dozen Bouts

This Saturday night, September 20th, North American Fighting Championship (NAFC) returns to Milwaukee’s historic Rave Eagles Ballroom with “Uprising” MMA. An action packed amateur and professional fight card drawing the region’s top talent will entertain the loyal fans of the Brew City with over a dozen bouts scheduled. Doors open5:00 p.m., undercard starts 5:30 p.m.and the main card kicks off at 8:00 p.m. CST.

NAFC’s “UPRISING” main event is a Welterweight match-up between Roufusport’s Craig Eckelberg and Jesse Gerringer of Fit or Fight/Berger MMA- St. Louis, MO. Another exciting match-up is between two young rising Flyweight female stars, Jenny D’Acquisto of Roufusport and Rashelle Cook, whom hails from Hartland, Michigan.


In this exciting women’s bout, D’Acquisto looks to extend her record in MMA to 2-0. Cook has a different agenda as she plans to walk away with a victory in her debut amateur fight. Both of these women bring an exciting style of fighting and heart to the cage.


D’Acquisto decided after training nearly three years, to transition into fighting, which has gone smoothly. Training at Roufusport, the young fighter has showed great potential under the supervision of world renowned coach Duke Roufus.


“Fighting I guess is probably what people would think is the most masculine form of competition and the fact that people want to watch it (Women’s MMA) now means a lot to me.” said D’Acquisto, mentioning what women’s MMA means to her.


D’Acquisto’s passion for MMA has grown into a “lifestyle.” Her lifestyle as a fighter requires a strict diet that eliminates alcohol and all food substances that restrict her progression as a fighter. “I think it will peak a lot of people’s interest and it shows that it’s becoming more mainstream,” D’Acquisto mentioned about the TUF all-women season 20 show. D’Acquisto is a devoted fighter surrounded by world champions. She has a bright future in the rapidly grow sport of MMA. Come Saturday, the University of Milwaukee graduate is more than ready for her battle against Michigan’s Cook.


“UPRISING” will also present Craig Eckelberg (2-0) in the main event against Jesse Gerringer (1-0) of Fit or Fight/Berger MMA- St. Louis, MO. Eckelberg Had a successful amateur career and is continuing success on the professional level. Entering the cage with two wins and zero losses in his pro career, his next opponent will test Eckelberg in all areas of MMA. He has a strong wrestling background which has led the Roufusport fighter to his two submission victories.


Gerringer is searching for his second win after earning a unanimous decision in his pro debut. The St. Louis fighter will be entering hostile territory fighting in Eckelberg’s backyard. Expect an exciting bout between these two fighters in the NAFC “Uprising” main event.
