Nate Diaz vs Conor McGregor at UFC 196

Nate Diaz in for RDA against Conor McGregor at UFC 196

If you remember Nate Diaz’ post-fight rant to Conor McGregor after his victory over Michael Johnson in December, it was not pretty.  In fact much of it had to be censored.

Don’t remember?  Watch below:

Diaz often talked about wanting the “money fight” and getting that Conor McGregor type money.

Now Diaz gets his wish.  After news broke that UFC lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos broke his foot in preparation for McGregor in their headlining UFC 196 title bout, McGregor was left not only without a fight but also without a title shot.

Who would the UFC find to replace RDA that is a big enough draw to fight McGregor but also step up on short notice?

The answer was Diaz. UFC President Dana White announced that Diaz and McGregor will fight at welterweight, two weight classes up from where McGregor won the 145-pound featherweight title in December over Jose Aldo.

What type of fight will we see out of McGregor who was preparing for a fight at 155-pounds but will now stop cutting weight to stay competitive with Diaz who has competed at welterweight before?

In the UFC 196 co-main event, women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm defends her title for the first time against Miesha Tate.
