Australian mixed martial artist Julian Wallace made headlines earlier this year after having ex-girlfriend Jessy Jess said she was assaulted by him for not bringing home the right dinner.

According to the Dailymail.co.uk, ‘Julz the Jackal’ walked free from Newtown Local Court on Wednesday after a magistrate handed him two suspended sentences for the April 28 assault. No jail time for Julian Wallace, judge says he is 'person of good character'

The heavily tattooed 28-year-old was sentenced to 15 months jail for assault occasioning actual bodily harm and seven months for intentionally choking with recklessness but will not serve anytime after Magistrate Margaret Quinn said Wallace, whose legal name is Julian Rabaud, had a ‘very difficult background’ and appeared to be a person of ‘good character’.

Wallace, who pleaded guilty in October, winked and blew a kiss to the media as his sentence was read out, and said before the hearing the victim Jessy Jess was ‘to blame’, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Jess told Daily Mail Australia in October she had been running 15 minutes late on her way home from work on the night of the assault after she stopped to pick up some noodles for Wallace.

When she arrived at their apartment, he flew into a rage at her having brought the wrong food, grabbing her and accusing her of being unfaithful.

‘He started attacking me, it went on for about 20 minutes, he kicked me in the head with timberland boots on,’ Ms Jess said.

‘He got me in a muay thai headlock in the kitchen and was elbowing me in the face.

‘He was holding my head in one hand and hitting me with the other,’ she added.

Wallace was terminated from contract with XFC after news of the alleged assault came to light.

Now that is a free man it will be interesting to see where the mixed martial artist lands.
