One Championship is Coming to Prime Video

One Championship just made a potentially game changing move to bring MMA to Amazon’s Prime Video service. For Amazon customers that have Amazon Prime, they already have access to Prime Video so the potential to increase their fanbase will increase greatly. 12 full live events will be coming to Prime Video with the first to be announced later this year.

ONE Championship made the announcement through a press release that touts ONE as being the world’s largest martial arts organization and a top five global sports property for viewership and engagement. According to Statista, as of March of this year Prime Video has 200 million subscribers worldwide and is expected to gain 240 million more by 2026.

Chairman and CEO at ONE Championship, Chatri Sityodtong said in the release, “ONE Championship is thrilled to work with Prime Video, one of the largest premium sports content providers in the world, to bring our live events closer to fans in the United States and Canada. As the world’s largest martial arts organization, we believe our collaboration with Prime Video will allow us to reach a wider North American audience that is hungry for an authentic and differentiated product you simply cannot get with any other organization. We look forward to showcasing the absolute greatest martial artists on the planet, right here in the ONE Championship Circle and on Prime Video.”

Marie Donoghue, Vice President of Global Sports Video at Amazon, said: “We are proud to add exclusive coverage of ONE Championship events to our suite of marquee live sports offerings.” She specifically mentioned One Championships “ mutual commitment to elevate female athletes,” like Atomweight Champion Angela Lee.

For a while fight fans have been calling for a major mixed martial arts promotion to be first on a streaming network like Netflix or Prime Video. The two options are long established in the streaming video business and there’s no better time than now to add MMA to the menu for longtime subscribers.

Yes, the UFC has ESPN+ but that was something new fans had to make a decision to add to an already full menu of streaming entertainment, this is something that’s already there for Prime subscribers.

Will you be looking for ONE Championship content on Prime Video?
