ONE’s Tiffany Teo Targets Atomweight Move and Wants Ritu Phogat

Tiffany Teo targets atomweight move following a victorious kickoff to her 2022 campaign.

Teo’s last bout was in the strawweight division and she bested transitioning atomweight Meng Bo. This came via second-round rear-naked choke at ONE: Heavy Hitters on January 14th.

Teo has contended multiple times for the ONE strawweight title and has defeated former divisional title challengers like Michelle Nicolini and Ayaka Miura. The number one ranked strawweight contender is looking for new challenges after testing skills with all of the divisional elites presently under the ONE Championship banner.

To that point, No Chill is eyeballing a possible test against The Indian Tigress to really make a splash in this new weight class.

In an interview with ONE Championship, and transcription courtesy of Sportskeeda, Teo stated, “I would love to (fight Ritu Phogat). I think that would be a great matchup. I think (in terms of grappling) we’re pretty much on par. Ritu makes sense for now at atomweight. We both just got our win against the same girl (Meng Bo) so that should be fun.”

Phogat last entered the ONE Circle in December 2021 with the aim of being the Atomweight Grand Prix winner. Alas, she would fall short in the finals via submission to Stamp Fairtex at ONE: Winter Warriors.

Ritu Phogat bested the aforementioned Meng Bo and Jenelyn Olsim; both via unanimous decision to advance through the stages of the tournament.

Returning ONE Atomweight world champion Angela Lee will defend her belt against Atomweight Grand Prix winner Stamp Fairtex at ONE X.

The winner of a potential Teo versus Phogat clash would be well-positioned to potentially contend for gold against the winner of that Lee versus Stamp fight.

What are your feelings on a possible Tiffany Teo vs Ritu Phogat fight at atomweight in the ONE Circle?
