Paul Felder will step away from desk to corner Jared Gordon

After missing UFC 251, Paul Felder will be on double duty at UFC on ESPN 13 this Wednesday, July 15.

Assigned as a commentator for the event, Felder will step out momentarily to corner friend and teammate Jared Gordon against Chris Fishgold. Since Gordon’s coaches tested positive for COVID-19, he made the trip to Abu Dhabi alone.

Training out of Sanford MMA in Florida, Gordon will be cornered by Felder and Xtreme Couture head coach Eric Nicksick.

Brian Butler of SuckerPunch Entertainment took to Instagram to share Gordon’s current situation.

“Breaking: @jaredflashgordon’s coaches and team all tested positive for CV and were not able to make the trip to corner him. With no corners or coaches Jared was determined to fight and pressed through set back after setback and still made his way to Fight Island. In an unprecedented move, long time friend, training partner and fellow SP teammate, @felderpaul is scheduled to commentate the remaining events on Fight Island and has gotten clearance to come off the desk to help his friend through the fight during the event. Also long time SP friend @eric_xcmma who is there with fellow SP client @dynamitedan808 will step up and help Jared in his fight. #1team1dream #represented”

Felder is scheduled to call the remaining events on “Fight Island.” Felder was quarantined during UFC 251 after sitting on the plane next to Din Thomas, who tested positive for the virus.

He is a longtime training partner of Gordon at Roufasport in Milwaukee. The UFC also commented on cornering Gordon via social media.

“No way I’m letting my man go into a fight alone.”

Gordon earned a lone victory in his last four octagon appearances. The 31-year-old earned a unanimous decision against Dan Moret at UFC on ESPN 3 in June 2019.

The former CFFC featherweight champion is .500 with the UFC at 3-3.
