Rashad Evans vs. Glover Teixeira to Face in Main Event UFC Fight Night in February

“Sugar” Rashad Evans and Glover Teixeira have verbally agreed to face off at UFC Fight Night 61 in Porto Alegre, Brazil. The fight will be the main event for the first event ever in Porto Alegre. The verbal agreement was first reported via Globo, a Brazilian media, and is now being reported by mixedmartialarts.com

Evans vs Teixeira

Glover Teixeira (#6 ranked light heavyweight) was on a 20-fight winning streak, which came to an end when he lost via decision to lightheavyweight champion Jon Jones. Teixeira (22-4) would suffer another setback, and his first ever back-to-back loss in his last fight against Phil Davis at UFC 179. Teixeira is still a top contender in the talented light heavyweight division, and not far from another shot at the title.

Former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans (19-3, #4 ranked in UFC) has won his last two fights, beating Dan Henderson and in his most recent fight,  a TKO victory over Chael Sonnen back in 2013. Evans has been inactive for over a year due to knee injuries. Evans is now 100% and looks to win a third consecutive bout, and hopefully earn another shot at the light heavyweight title.

Other fights that are official on this card is a middleweight clash between Cezar “Mutante” Ferreira (8-3) against Sam “Smile’n” Alvey (24-6), and a lightweight match up featuring Rustam Khabilov (17-2, #15 lightweight) against Adriano Martins (26-7).
