Rousey vs Zingano Official for UFC 182

UFC President Dana White confirmed Wednesday that the reigning and still undefeated UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will defend her title against ‘Alpha’ Cat Zingano at UFC 182.

Zingano, also undefeated was named the number one contender in 2013 after defeating Miesha Tate.  The Alpha Cat was then sidelined by injury and the tragic loss of her husband.  She returned to action with a third round TKO over Amanda Nunes last month.

With 19 wins and no losses between the pair this fight will determine who is the number one female 135-pounder on the planet.  While many debate that Cristiane ‘Cyborg’ Justino should be thrown in the mix, she is yet to fight at bantamweight however that will change later this year when the power puncher competes Dec. 4., at Invicta FC 10.

Rousey is coming off a 16-second KO win over Alexis Davis in July.

Following the fight Rousey needed 10 stitches to close a cyst that burst on her knuckle after punching the favis of Davis RondaRouseyHandrepeatedly. The champion would also need to undergo minor knee surgery.

UFC 182 is headlined by a much anticipated light heavyweight title fight between champion Jon Jones and number one contender, Daniel Cormier.

The Rousey vs Zingano bout will co-headline the January 3 pay-per-view fight card.
