Sara McMann looking for July opponent; Challenges entire division

U.S. Olympian Sara McMann last fought in January at UFC 183, losing a majority decision to Miesha Tate. The number four-ranked women’s bantamweight contender would like to return to action, preferably at UFC Fight Night 71 on July 15.

McMann was on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani earlier today when she made the open challenge to the entire women’s bantamweight division. She even welcomed newcomers, if signed by the UFC.

McMann might face a few challenges competing on the card. There are already 12 fights scheduled for UFC Fight Night 71. Two of the matches are women bouts with Holly Holm facing Marion Reneau, and Jessica Andrade facing Sarah Moras . McMann, 34, said she was even willing to fight an unranked opponent, and she asked UFC management to sign someone to get a fight.

It will be six months without a fight for Sara McMann come July, so it is very understandable with her desire to step back into the cage to avoid a long time being idle.

“If you want to fight me and you want to be on the July 15 card, let me know”, McMann said.

With the challenge out in the open, we will follow closely and see if Sara McMann lands a spot on UFC Fight Night 71.
