With spectacular performances by headliners Junior Dos Santos and Stipe Miocic, as well as main card winners Rafael dos Anjos, Alistair Overeem and Matt Mitrione, the UFC’s first visit to the state of Arizona on December 13 was a resounding success, as fans packed the US Airways Center in Phoenix to see their favorite fighters in action.

The excitement the premier brand in mixed martial arts brought to town wasn’t lost on state officials, with the Arizona House of Representatives issuing House Recognition for the UFC in December, an immense honor for a company that has helped bring the sport not only around the United States, but around the world.

“The Members of the House of Representatives of the State of Arizona do hereby recognize and honor the Ultimate Fighting Championship for the outstanding service and commitment to fans and the positive economic impact it has brought to the United States and to the people of the great state of Arizona,” read the document signed by Speaker-elect of the House David Gowan and Corporation Commissioner-elect Tom Forese.

The House Recognition statement noted the UFC’s vast accomplishments and also celebrated the 39 fighters on the current roster who live in Arizona or have lived or gone to school in the state.
